Overview

The cross-border classic, on a budget

This itinerary follows the same route as our Kenya & Tanzania Luxury Safari — the Maasai Mara, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater — using budget dome-tent camping instead of lodges, for travellers who want the cross-border experience without the lodge-level price.

How the eight days work

Days one and two cover the Maasai Mara. Day three is the border crossing into Tanzania and the transfer into the Serengeti. Days four and five are spent in the Serengeti. Day six is the transfer to a campsite near Ngorongoro Crater, with a full day inside the crater on day seven. Day eight is the departure transfer.

Good to know

The price shown is a guide per adult sharing a twin tent, full board across seven nights, shared washroom facilities at each campsite. Kenya and Tanzania visas and the border crossing fee are not included and are paid directly at the border.

Highlights

  • The Mara–Serengeti ecosystem seen from both countries
  • Ngorongoro Crater's concentrated wildlife
  • A genuinely budget-friendly way to do a cross-border safari
  • Full board camping throughout
