Overview

One ecosystem, two countries

The Maasai Mara and the Serengeti are the same ecosystem divided by a national border, and this itinerary crosses that border by road to show both sides, adding Ngorongoro Crater — a collapsed volcanic caldera holding an unusually dense, resident population of wildlife year-round.

How the eight days work

Days one and two cover the Maasai Mara. Day three is the border crossing into Tanzania and the transfer into the Serengeti. Days four and five are spent in the Serengeti. Day six is the transfer to Ngorongoro Crater, with a full day inside the crater on day seven. Day eight is the return transfer, most commonly flying out of northern Tanzania rather than driving back to Nairobi.

Good to know

The price shown is a guide per adult sharing a twin room, full board across seven nights. Kenya and Tanzania visas and the border crossing fee are not included and are paid directly at the border; we will confirm current requirements and costs with your final itinerary. Most travellers fly out of Kilimanjaro International Airport rather than returning overland to Nairobi — this is arranged as part of your booking.
